Clare has seen a marginal improvement in terms of building energy ratings in the last year.
The latest report from the Central Statistics Office shows 17% of dwellings in the Banner county received either an ‘A’ or ‘B’ rating in the first quarter of 2023.
Almost 27,000 Building Energy Rating Certificates have been distributed county wide since 2009, with 1,824 new certs being issued in the last year alone.
The majority of homes in the Banner are still scoring in the mid range in terms of BERs, with 33% of all properties surveyed here receiving a grade in the C1 to C3 range , down slightly from the 36% recorded at this juncture of the year previous.
However Clare has seen a marked increase at the higher end of the scale with 17% of homes now registering either an ‘A’ or ‘B’ rating in comparison to 13% last year.
Despite this progress, the amount of homes in Clare receiving the lowest possible building energy rating remains unchanged in the last twelve months, with 8 % of dwellings still designated a ‘G’ grade.
Overall just seven counties have a greater proportion of ‘G’ rated homes than Clare while only six counties had less homes with the highest ‘A’ rating.
