Clare has recorded the highest rate of growth in the price of rent for new tenancies in the first three months of the year.
The lastest report from the Residential Tenancies Board shows the average rent for new tenancies was 19.1% higher than it was in 2025.
According to the RTB, €1,333 was the average monthly rent for new tenants in the county.
New tenants in Ennis paid €1,390 monthly between January and March, while those in Shannon and Killaloe paid €1,353 and €1,476 respectively.
Meanwhile, 66 notices of termination were issued in Clare between April and June of this year.
This represents a 47% decrease from the 125 that were recorded in the first three months of the year and a slight decrease from the 73 in the second quarter of 2025.
From the 1st of March, new legislation came into effect that allowS all types of landlords to end a tenancy if a tenant breaches their obligation or if the property is no longer suitable for the tenant’s needs.
Nationwide 4,031 notices of termination were lodged in the second quarter of the year, with 50% of these cases due to the landlord intending to sell the property.
