Clare has received the third-highest amount under the Climate Action Performance Payment to date.
Figures released by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine show over €200,000 has been paid to ash forest owners in this county under the scheme since it was launched last year.
The Climate Action Performance Payment, or CAPP, is a payment of €5,000 per hectare in three instalments to grant-aided ash forest owners who clear their sites and replant through an Ash Dieback Reconstitution Scheme.
Since it was introduced in August of 2024, €212,225 has been paid out to Clare applicants, accounting for 8% of the total amount paid out nationwide.
Of this, €194,475 came last year while €17,750 has been doled out so far in 2025.
This means Clare ash forest owners have been given the third-largest allocation of any county after Wexford and Tipperary.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine says it’s received 280 applications for the first instalment of the scheme.
Of these, none have been disallowed while there are ongoing queries in relation to 12.
A total of €2.5 million has been paid on 268 applications representing 1,015 hectares nationwide.
