Clare Rate Payers Shouldn’t Have To Foot Bill For Shannon Heritage Transfer Says Outgoing Mayor

The outgoing Mayor of Clare insists rate payers in this county shouldn’t have to foot the bill for the transfer of Shannon Heritage sites to the local authority.

Councillor PJ Ryan is set to pass the baton to Killaloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Tony O’Brien at a special ceremony in Áras Contae an Chláir this afternoon.

Clare County Council has lodged an application for funding for three years following the transfer of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park, Knappogue Castle and Craggaunowen to the council and negotiations are ongoing.

 

Sixmilebridge Independent Councillor Ryan says he hoped the process would be complete before the end of his term, but the decision is now in the hands of the Finance Minister.
