The Chair of Clare’s Pyrite Action Group is calling on the government to admit the scale of the damage caused by defective concrete blocks in this county and across the country.
A report by the expert group on the Defective Concrete Blocks scheme says it’s ‘inevitable’ that the scheme will have to be extended to additional counties.
Currently the Mica redress scheme announced late last year only inlucdes Donegal and Mayo, with Clare County Council receiving a request for further information before being admitted to the scheme.
Dr. Martina Cleary, founder of the Pyrite Action Group in Clare says what’s actually ‘inevitable’ is that the state will have to do it’s duty to support affected households.
