Fianna Fáil candidate, Jim Gavin, remains on the ballot paper despite withdrawing from the race, after it emerged he had failed to repay a tenant over €3,000 in overpaid rent.

Chief Executive of An Coimisiún Toghchain, Art O’Leary has been telling Clare FM’s Morning Focus that in the event Jim Gavin amasses the most votes and rejects the office of presidency, a fresh election will be held prior to December 24th.
