Clare’s Water Safety Officer fears there will be another tragedy in the county if people continue to swim in unguarded and dangerous waters.
It follows the death of 17 year old Meelick teenager Joe Kileen who drowned in the canal at Ardnacrusha last Friday evening -bringing to five the number of people, mainly young, who have died in similar circumstances in the past week.

Despite the huge loss of life, there are still reports of people swimming in quaries, unguarded beaches and other unsafe locations across the county.
