A Clare clinical psychologist insists understanding the lived experience of breast cancer patients is crucial to providing the best possible care.
Cancer Trials Ireland has announced details of Ireland’s first-ever patient-led survey to receive ethical and scientific approval which will examine the journey of women with breast cancer whose cancer has spread.
The survey looks at various aspects of the women’s experience of their illness such as what medical treatments they underwent, how they were told about their diagnosis as well as the toll their cancer took on their relationships, sexuality and mental health.
Clare member of the survey’s research steering committee Helen Greally says cancer supports must be informed by the recommendations of those who have experienced it.
