Clare Property Prices Fell By Over €20,000 In October

The average cost of buying a home in Clare fell by over €20,000 in October.

The CSO’s latest Residential Property Price Index shows there was also a 20% drop in this county’s housing transactions.

Over the month, a total of 50 homes were sold in Clare, down significantly from the 72 sold in August.

The lions share of transactions as usual where in Ennis, where 34 properties changed hands.

Of these, 33 were second-hand homes and just one dwelling sold in the county town was new.

Additionally 11 of the properties went to first time buyers and the average price paid for a home in Ennis was €322,493; representing a monthly rise of over €44,000.

In Shannon, there was no change in the number of transactions but the average price paid fell by 16% to €227,375.

For the second month in a row, all homes sold were second-hand and none went to first time buyers.

The number of sales in Kilrush more than halved month on month, falling from 17 to 8 and here there was an over €70,000 reduction in prices.

The average price paid for a home within the electoral area came in at €236,538.

Here just one property was scooped up by a first-time buyer.
