New figures suggest that Clare’s construction industry is at an eight year high.

That’s the highest figure for any three-month period since the first three months of 2010.

Planning authorities gave the go-ahead for 76 new homes to be built in Clare between January and March of this year. The vast majority of them were one-off houses.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show over 100 other projects, such as conversions and extensions, were given the green light during the same time frame.

Each of these figures represent a rise, suggesting that Clare’s construction industry is growing.

The number of new homes given the go-ahead is the highest for any three-month period since the start of 2010.
