People across Clare without COVID-19 vaccines will be able to avail of walk in appointments in Ennis’ West County Hotel this weekend.
It comes as the government has committed to specifically addressing online misinformation being spread about the vaccination of children, while COVID 19 booster shots will be available in the autumn.
70 per cent of the adult population is now fully vaccinated against Covid 19 and 85 per cent have received their first dose.
The HSE has revealed the details of the locations of all the walk-in vaccination centres on their website, with Ennis’ West County Hotel to offer the service in this county.
The facility is already Clare’s designated vaccination centre, and those without an appointment can attend for a first dose of a either a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in the next number of days.
It’ll be open for people to receive a jab on Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am to 12 noon, and on Bank Holiday Monday from 1.30pm to 6pm.
Those attending are asked bring proof of their PPS number, their Eircode, a mobile phone number, an email address and proof of identification.
Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly, says the facility will be available to everyone over the age of 16.
It comes as a public awareness campaign is to be launched following the decision to approve the use of MRNA vaccines in 12-15 year olds.
Registration for the Pfizer and Moderna jabs for that age group will likely get underway next week following a recommendation from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.
Shannon GP Dr. Yvonne Williams doesn’t believe the need for parental consent will hinder the roll-out of the vaccines.
