Clare County Council is advising people not to travel under any circumstances tonight as Storm Darragh inches ever closer.
A red wind warning comes into force for Clare from 9 o’clock tonight and remains in place until 2am, with Met Éireann warning of fallen trees, damage to power lines, dangerous travelling conditions, structural damage to temporary structures and wave overtopping.
Separately, an orange wind warning is in effect for the county from 8 o’clock tonight until 10am tomorrow morning, while a yellow rain alert came into force here at 10am today and will remain in place until the same time tomorrow.
The National Emergency Management team met this morning ahead of the incoming storm, and will come together again this afternoon.
Senior Engineer in Clare County Council’s Roads, Environment and Water Service Department Cyril Feeney has been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons his team expects to be clearing plenty of debris from the county’s roads over the next 24 hours.
