Clare People Urged To Donate Christmas Trees To Protect Seafield Sand Dunes

People in Clare are being urged to recycle their natural Christmas trees in order to prevent the erosion of one of the county’s natural amenities.

Seafield Conservation Forum is appealing for people to donate their old Christmas trees, as they can help protect the locations sand dunes by catching and trapping sand in place within the dunes.

The sand dunes in Seafield at have eroded in size by over 30%, with most of that erosion occurring in the past 10 years.

Co-Moderator of Seafield Conservation Forum, Caroline Egan, says without adequate protection, the Pier Road will become damaged, affecting the livelihoods of fishermen in the area.
