Clare People Urged To Be Mindful Of Food Waste During Pancake Tuesday Celebrations

Clare people are being encouraged to be mindful of food waste as they celebrate Pancake Tuesday.

Also known as Shrove Tuesday, today is the eve of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting which begins on Ash Wednesday and runs until Easter.

New CSO figures show the cost of making pancakes is up more than 35 per cent in five years, with the price of two litres of full fat milk up by 72 cents, and 2 kilograms of flour up by 62 cents .

The original idea behind Pancake Tuesday was to use up food which would not be eaten during Lent and these people in Ennis town centre have been telling Clare FM how they like to celebrate.
