The Clare Based Chair of Water Safety Ireland is urging the public to never underestimate the lethal dangers posed by local bathing & recreation sites.
The latest report from the group shows that drowning incidents claimed the lives of 80 people countrywide last year.

Meanwhile it is believed up to 60% of all such fatal encounters occur within 20km of the home of victims.
Ennis native, Claire McGrath who is also Clare County Council’s Water Safety Officer says you should also wear a life jacket and never swim alone.
