Clare people living with diabetes are being forced outside the county to get treatment.
It’s an issue which Clare resident Gráinne Flynn has raised with Shannon Sinn Féin TD Donna McGettigan amid calls for more services for people with diabetes in the Midwest.
After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1993, Gráinne was forced to go to a private consultant to get an insulin pump and has to travel to Galway to access insulin pump therapy.
She’s since co-founded Thriveabetes which is a conference organised by and for those living with type 1 diabetes, and she says those without the means to travel for therapy are suffering the most.
