A Clare member of Active Retirement Ireland says the Government may have to look at ‘filling the oil tanks’ of elderly people amid continued struggles with the rising cost of living.
A number of measures were discussed by senior ministers last night including an additional lump sum payment for households in receipt of the fuel allowance, while a temporary reduction in VAT on gas and electricity from 13.5 to nine percent was also raised.
The Public Service Obligation levy is also set to be cut from bills from the autumn.
