Clare Patients Urged To Attend Local Medical Facilities Before UHL

The Chief Clinical Director of the region’s main hospital believes more needs to be done to educate patients on their options to avoid unnecessary attendances at the emergency department.

University Hospital Limerick has suffered from high levels of overcrowding in recent weeks, with over 50 patients waiting on trolleys, on five days in a row, at one point.

Concerns have been raised that the situation will become exacerbated as the flu season takes hold.
