Clare Parents Out Of Pocket Due To Interim Loss Of School Bus Services

A South-East Clare Parent claims families are being persecuted financially due to a lack of school bus services.

Due to acute shortages in sourcing contracted drivers, Bus Eireann has been forced to temporarily suspend some local routes, including journey’s servicing Sixmilebridge, Newmarket and Ruan.

The provider in conjunction with the Department of Education has set up an ‘Exceptional No Service Interim Grant’’ to compensate those who now have to source alternative transport.

However, concerned parents of the catchment area will be holding a public meeting in Cratloe Community Hall at 8pm tonight to discuss their next step and spokesperson Noelette Darcy, says the current situation is simply not viable.
