Clare has been paired with a nation in southeast Europe under a new EU initiative.
With Ireland assuming the European Union Presidency from July to December of this year, plans have been unveiled for each county to develop a relationship and carry out exchanges with an EU member state.

Clare’s partner in the project will be Croatia while Limerick has been coupled with Germany, Galway with Estonia, and Tipperary with Bulgaria.
In each county, ambassadors of the chosen country will participate in public events such as talks at local libraries and schools as well as engagements with sporting, community, youth and civil society organisations.
