A Clare owned bar in Queens has faced backlash online following a visit from the newly elected Mayor of New York.
34-year-old Democrat Zohran Mamdani created history this week with his win over former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa, to become the city’s first Muslim and milennial mayor.

Murphy’s bar in Astoria was one of Mayor elect Mamdani’s first visits prior to the election but the focus was only on sports according to Ennis native Rory Murphy.
Rory says despite the negativity online, the visit was a positive experience.
