Justice Minister Simon Harris has released new figures to the Oireachtas showing where Gardai coming out of training in Templemore have been assigned since 2015.

51 recruits have been sent to this county, however only four divisions – Cork West, Mayo, Westmeath and the joint Roscommon/Longford division have had lower numbers of Gardai attested in that timeframe.

Only two Gardai were assigned to Clare in all of 2022, while the county received no allocation from the 24 new recruits given new posts in the latest round of designation, which occurred on the 13th of January this year.

Minister Harris has told the Oireachtas Garda funding has increased by 46 percent since 2015, with the Department maintaining an ongoing target of having 15,000 active Gardai working nationwide.
