A member of Sláinte An Chláir is urging people to be proactive during Cervical Cancer Awareness Month this January.
It comes as one of the first nationwide clinics under the Laura Brennan HPV catch-up programme will be held at the Ennis Primary Care Centre tomorrow.
All boys and girls in secondary schools as well as women aged under 25 can receive their catch up vaccination for free under the initiative.
Over 292 women and people with a cervix in Ireland are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, while It is believed 99% of cervical cancers can be attributed the the HPV or Human Papillomavirus.
Anne Murphy who is an oncology nurse from Sláinte an Chláir says it is vitally important to act fast if you are experiencing symptoms.
