The Clare Older People’s Council is calling for the medical report charges for drivers over 75 to be abolished.
It comes as a survey by People Insurance found 25% of Irish adults think the need for a medical inspection of drivers over 75 should be gotten rid of and 20% believe the procedure is ageist.
84% of men and 52% of women over 75 currently are driving license holders, according to the most recent census report.
