A Clare member of the Oireachtas Media Committee is welcoming plans for more regional work in the Midwest as RTÉ downsizes.
It comes as the government has agreed to a bailout worth €56 million for RTE, with €16 million given to RTÉ in the coming weeks and a further €40 million next year.
This bailout is reliant on RTE implementing cost cutting reforms which will see pay cuts to the broadcasters highest earners and a 20% reduction in the workforce, meaning 400 job losses by 2028.

Mountshannon Fianna Fail Senator Timmy Dooley believes that although the focus is on job losses, this could be a good opportunity for regional work in the Midwest.
