Clare nursing staff urge union to seek reconfiguration review

 

Nursing staff in the Mid West are calling on the Executive Council of the INMO to seek an independent review into the impact, reconfiguration is having on health services in Clare Limerick and Tipperary.

It’s one of dozens of motions down for debate at the annual conference of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation which gets underway in Kilkenny today

More than 350 delegates will attend the event, which will also hear calls for safer staffing levels, and the introduction of a legally binding nurse to patient ratio. 

The INMO says the recruitment embargo in the health service means thousands of nursing posts have been lost since 2008 – and this is impacting severely on patient care.
