It’s claimed Clare is no better prepared for an extreme weather event than it was for Storm Éowyn ten months ago.
The storm, which battered the county with 180km/h winds left over 44,000 people here without power at its peak.

With widespread flooding, water outages and mobile network outages as well, many communities had to rely on local hubs for showers, food, and power, which were deployed after the storm had struck.
Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy says Clare can’t afford to be caught on the hop again.
