Clare-Native Bishop Criticised For Vaccine Remarks

A Catholic Bishop from North Clare is calling for money spent on a cervical cancer vaccine, to instead be spent on helping young people abstain from sex.

Gardasil is offered to schoolgirls across the country to help stop them contracting HPV once they become sexually active.

However, Bishop of Lismore and Waterford Phonsie Cullinan, who is a native of Lahinch, has said that he feels the vaccine “could” make young girls more promiscuous because “it changes the mentality.”
