Clare Musician Fearful Launch Date Of Payment Scheme For Artists Wil Be Later Than Expected

An Clare musician is fearful the launch date for a new pilot scheme will be later than first anticipated.

Up to 2000 people will be able to avail of the Basic Income Scheme for Artists, which will see them receive a basic income for a period of three years.

The launch date for the scheme hasn’t yet been finalised as the consultation process is concluding, but it’s expected to be announced early this year.

Musician with Clare band Socks in the Frying Pan, Shane Hayes, says it is a welcome development after an extremely difficult two years, but he fears the launch date will be pushed back.
