Motorists in Clare are being warned of hazardous driving conditions this morning, as the country deals with a status yellow ice warning.
Met Éireann expects the sub-zero conditions to continue until at least Sunday.
Status yellow ice warning will remain in place until midday, but it’s not the end of the current cold snap.
This morning, commuters should beware of possible black ice on roads as well as freezing rain.
Meterologist with Met Éireann Siobhan Ryan says conditions are treacherous.
The weather is expected to ease slightly throughout the afternoon, however Siobhán says there could be some wintery showers this evening.
The cold weather has also brought some pressure to the electricity grid with Eirgrid expecting the supply and demand margin to be “tight” in the days ahead.
