Clare Motorists Urged To Play A Part In Preventing Road Deaths This Weekend

Clare Gardaí are urging motorists to take every step to prevent deaths on our roads this Bank Holiday weekend.

An extensive Garda Roads Policing Operation is underway, with data showing the risk of a fatal or serious injury road traffic collisions is highest between 12 noon and 3pm on the Friday of the St Brigid’s Bank Holiday Weekend.

On this weekend last year, one fatal crash and 16 serious injury collisions were recoreded, while 167 drivers were arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving.

Inspector in the Clare-Tipperary Garda Division Roads Policing Unit, Mark Allen says that while Gardaí will be actively patrolling the roads over the next few days, it’s also up to drivers and pedestrians to be responsible for their actions.
