Clare Motorists Advised To Drive With Care As Cold Snap Continues

Motorists in Clare are being advised to drive with extra care as the cold snap continues to grip the country.

Temperatures across the county reached near-freezing overnight, and while emergency services are reporting an improvement on main roads this morning, icy conditions remain in sheltered areas.

Housing estates in Ennis and Shannon as well as the Shannon Industrial Estate remain quite slippy and motorists are advised to allow for extra time when making journeys.

Yesterday Met Eireann extended an orange weather alert with snow accumulations of up to eight centimetres predicted in counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo until at least midday.

A status yellow snow/ice warning is also in effect for counties Galway,Longford, Cavan, Monaghan and Roscommon.

Gerry Murphy from Met Eireann says conditions across the country will improve today.
