A Miltown Malbay woman whose twins were born via surrogate has branded access to fertility treatment in Ireland as discriminatory.
A landmark report published by Fertility Europe ranked Ireland 40th out of 43 countries in it’s provision of fertility care due to the lack of state funding for treatments such as IVF.

Fiona Whyte from Miltown Malbay and her husband Sean spent upwards of €35,000 on five rounds of IVF, before turning to surrogacy in India to have their children.
Fiona says the financial strain of paying for fertility treatments is preventing people from having a family.
