A Clare mother is calling for a ban on the sale of products containing HHC.
Hexahydrocannabinol is a new synthetic ‘cannabinoid’ – a man-made chemical product developed from CBD which has been legally available in European and Irish markets since 2022 in some vapes, e-cigarettes and edibles.
Concerns have emerged about the impact on people’s mental health, however, with cases reported in Ireland of extreme distress, delusions, auditory hallucinations, paranoia and self-harm among regular users.
Gráinne has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that her daughter suffered from withdrawals after using a vape containing the substance and she’s calling on the Government to take decisive action and ban it in retail outlets here.
