Clare’s Minister of State insists the Taoiseach will remind President Trump that foreign direct investment between Ireland and the US is a two-way street when he visits the White House for St Patrick’s Day.
It comes as the US President has indicated he will press ahead with placing tariffs of 25% on goods imported from the EU.
In 2023 alone, the value of American Foreign Direct Investment to Ireland was €491bn , while in the same year the value of Irish FDI to the US was $322bn, supporting over 100,000 jobs.
Tulla TD Timmy Dooley who will be visiting Canada for St Patrick’s Day has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan that a trade war would be detrimental for all parties.
