Clare’s Minister of State claims it would be “foolhardy” to suggest embracing offshore wind will result in the phasing of onshore turbines in this county.
The Government has unveiled its proposal for a National Designated Maritime Area Plan for Offshore Renewable Energy which will identify sites off Ireland’s coast suited to development.
Public consultation on the plan is due to commence next year while the finalised plan is expected to be published in late 2027.
Tulla Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, Timmy Dooley, says the State must meet growing electricity demand.
