A Clare MEP has been appointed Chief Observer of the European Union’s Election Observation Mission to Zambia.
Scariff-based Independent MEP Michael McNamara has launched the mission ahead of the country’s general election on the 13th of August, with more than 100 EU observers set to monitor the vote.

The mission will issue preliminary findings after polling before publishing a final report with recommendations for future elections once the electoral process has concluded.
Michael McNamara says it’s an honour to witness such an important democratic moment.
