Clare men earned 26% more on average than Clare women last year.
A new analysis from the Central Statistics Office shows that for one age range in this county, there was a 40% disparity in annual earnings.
According to the report, the average Clare person had an income of €48,481 last year, this rises to €54,159 for men and falls to €42,998 for women.
For 15 to 24 year-olds the average earnings in this county were €25,378, this was the second-highest total nationwide and only narrowly beaten by Dublin
For Clare’s 25 to 29 year-olds the average annual earnings are just over €44,250 per year, the fifth-highest nationwide.
At this point, a gap begins to emerge between male and female payments in this county, with 30-39 year-old men earning over €56,200 per year, 15% more than Clare women.
In the 40-49 year-old age bracket, Clare men are getting payed an average of €15,000 more per annum than women, while in the 50-59 age range, there’s a 40% gap with men earning €69,000 on average and Clare women €49,000.
The best paying sector in Clare appears to be Information and Communication Services, where according to the CSO, the average income is €78,841 per year.
Accommodation and Food Service activities are lowest with the average earning at €27,944.
