A Clare-based medical professional has developed a method of reducing pain for patients during patch treatments without side effects.
Anne-Marie Kiernan, who’s an Advanced Nurse Practicioner at Croom Orthopaedic Hospital Pain Excellence Centre, has received the Best Use of Innovative Technology Award at the HSE Spark Summit in Dublin.

Her project, entitled ‘Patch Me If You Can/Virtually Pain Free’, pilots Augmented Reality technology to reduce procedural pain during Qutenza patch treatments.
She says it allows patients to retain control of their lives while undergoing treatment.
