Clare Leader Forum is calling for disabled parking permits to be reclassified in a bid to prevent abuse of the current system.
Figures show 944 blue badges have been issued in Clare since 2023, with the organisation claiming some permits are being used illegitimately by family members of disabled people.

Ennistymon-based Clare Leader Forum Director Ann Marie Flanagan says separate permits are needed for wheelchair users, people with reduced mobility and those with substantial access needs.
She says more also needs to be done to provide additional disabled parking bays around the county.
