Clare JPC Chair Says Low Number Of Garda Vehicles In Clare Having “Major Effect” On Roads Policing

The Chair of Clare’s Joint Policing Committee believes the low number of Garda vehicles in Clare is having a “major effect” on roads policing.

Figures released to Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe have revealed that Clare has the smallest Garda fleet of any county nationwide.

The fleet of 50 vehicles serving the entire county consists of 37 cars, ten vans, two motorcycles and one 4×4, with 35 of these stationed at Ennis Garda Station.

Clare Joint Policing Committee Chair and Sixmilebridge Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe says Gardaí can’t be expected to patrol efficiently without vehicles at their disposal.
