Clare JPC Chair Calls For Government Support For Shops To Purchase Security Equipment

Clare’s Joint Policing Committee Chair is calling for the Government to step in and help shops to purchase enhanced security equipment.

It follows the release of new figures which show thefts from shops in the county were up by 44 percent between January and October compared to the same period last year.

330 such thefts have been detected by the Clare Garda Division in the past ten months, while general burglaries are also up 22 percent in the same timeframe.

 

Clare JPC Chair and Sixmilebridge-based Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe believes State intervention would help all areas of the community.
