A Clare member of ISME’s National Council wants quick decision making from Government on isolation rules for close contacts of confirmed Covid cases.
Rules around close contacts are set to be reviewed by public health officials tomorrow, following a request by coalition leaders to look at reducing the current isolation period due to Omicrons impact on vital services
There have been suggestions the isolation period for those who are boosted and have been in contact with a case may be lowered.
A number of businesses across the county have already been forced to close due to staff being absent and Siobhan Ní Ghairbhith of St Tola’s Irish Goat Cheese Farm in Ennistymon believes the rules need to change.
It comes as a further 21,302 Covid cases where confirmed here yesterday, while 884 people are in hospital across the country with 90 in ICU.
The numbers being treated for the virus at University Hospital Limerick has risen by 6 over the past 24 hours to 50, with 9 in intensive care, up 1 since yesterday morning.
