Clare Irish College Of Psychiatrists’ President Calls For Mental Health Targets To Be Met

The Clare-based President of the Irish College of Psychiatrists is hitting out at a failure to meet staffing targets in the mental health sector.

It follows new figures that show there are 2,000 less staff than the government had planned in its ‘A Vision for Change’ document in 2006.

There are currently 10,800 mental health professionals in this country – but the plan recommends that there should be 12,800 full-time staff.
