Clare INTO insists the government's plan to make Ireland's education system the best in Europe won't be realised without the proper resources.

Among a wide range of aims in the Action Plan For Education is the reduction of costs for parents, by recommending that generic uniforms are adopted.

It also contains measures to boost the number of children from disadvantaged communities finishing school and the introduction of the teaching of coding in primary schools. 

However, Brendan Horan has been telling me that the plan is very "aspirational", considering the number of schools struggling to simply pay the bills.
