A Clare Independent TD is questioning the development of a new surgical hub in the Mid-West while two theatres in Ennis hospital have been unused since Christmas.

It comes as University Hospital Limerick recorded the worst levels of overcrowding in the country in the first month of the year, with 1,080 of the more than 11,000 patients nationwide waiting on a trolley at the Dooradoyle facility.
