Clare Independent TD Claims Vibrant Coastal Communities Under Threat By Lack Of Wastewater Infrastructure

A Clare Independent TD is calling for urgent government intervention to ensure the provision of essential wastewater infrastructure in the county.

Spanish Point, Doolin & Carraigaholt which hosts a special area of conservation are among the coastal communities here without access to sewage treatment facilities.

Clare County Council is no longer responsible for the developemnt of wastewater services in Clare ,while Uisce Éireann has no remit in the instalation of new infrastructure to unsewered settlements.

Speaking in the Dáíl, Scariff based Deputy, Michael McNamara believes the state need to allocate funds from the €8 Billion budget surplus to prevent thriving towns and villages here from falling into decline.
