A Clare Independent TD is calling on the government to ‘dial down the rhetoric’ in it’s condemnation of the war in Ukraine.
Scarriff TD Michael McNamara addressed EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen in the Dáil last week, stressing the importance of neturality in negotiating an end to conflict.
He’s now questioning Ireland and the European Union’s political neutrality and the impact this could have on securing a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine through diplomatic channels.
Deputy McNamara is concerned the continued use of ‘inflammatory’ language by Irish politicians regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could serve to ‘fan the flames’ of the war.
