Clare IFOI Chair Wants CAP To Focus On ‘Producers Rather Than Millionaires’

A Clare farmer insists the Government’s strategy on the Common Agricultural Policy should be focused on supporting primary producers rather than ‘millionaires’.

It comes as the executive team of Independent Farmers in this county have made their submission for the government’s strategic plan for CAP which includes 17 suggestions, including in relation to the suckler cow grant.

The organisation are asking for €300 per breeding suckler cow per annum with a cap of 50 cows and for sheep farmers, €50 per breeding ewe with a max of 120 ewes.
