A Clare IFA representative says farmers need help in the Budget to get anywhere near emissions reductions targets contained in the Climae Action Plan.

Ministers agreed last month for the agriculture sector to have a 25 percent target to cut emissions by 2030.

The IFA’s published its pre-Budget submission this week, which calls for extra funding outside of CAP to assist with the process.

Newmarket-On-Fergus farmer Rosaleen O’Reilly, who’s the County Farm Business Rep for the IFA, says there are worthwhile schemes out there, but farmers need a helping hand.
